Fishing Food in Guild Wars 2
Selecting the right food for fishing is straightforward once you understand the specific benefits of each type. There are three primary categories of food that influence your fishing experience: Sushi, Feasts, and Zephrite Fish Jerky
All foods that provide a Fishing Power bonus provide +150 Fishing Power
Sushi
The primary food I carry for a Fishing Power boost is Redfish Sushi — [&AgHrfQEA]. While it also provides a minor bonus to Magic Find, please note that all four rarity tiers of sushi offer the same +150 Fishing Power, making them functionally identical for fishing purposes
It is important to note that Magic Find does not affect fishing drops. Fishing is a more active form of resource gathering, like mining nodes, so it uses gathering mechanics for materials. From a cost-effectiveness perspective, Whitefish Sushi — [&AgFndgEA] is probably the best choice for a fishing session
Feasts
Ascended feasts are great to have when fishing with friends, as they provide shared benefits for everyone in your party. While each feast offers the same +150 Fishing Power, they differ in their secondary primary and secondary stat boosts. For my own playstyle, I typically carry a Bowl of Echovald Hotpot —[&AgE4fQEA], as it grants a helpful +100 Condition Damage bonus that complements my Condition Firebrand build
Ascended Feast recipes can be purchased from certain merchants across all End of Dragons maps. The easiest ones to get to quickly are located behind the bar at the Club Canach Point of Interest — [&BHcNAAA=] within the Arborstone hub
Zephrite Fish Jerky
This fishing food is unique in that it does not act as a Nourishment effect. Instead, it applies the Tips on Skiff Use effect, increasing skiff speed, and adds 25 Fishing Party Catches. If you eat 4, you will maximize your Fishing Party bonus
The recipe for this can be purchased from the Festival of the Four Winds reward vendor or from the Four Winds Festival vendor at The Undermarket Point of Interest — [&BCgEAAA=] in Lion’s Arch
