Guild Wars 3 July Lore Update
A sneaky Guild Wars 3 lore update was dropped on the News page from Aaron Linde, narrative lead on the project. We learn about Vael, spirits made of magic itself, adding to the “season of radiance” occurring at Orr. Magic feels safe to roam since, during this time period, the Elder Dragons are at the deepest point of their sleep cycle
The human gods were drawn by the wild magic to Orr. Instead of commanders, we will be Vaelwardens, who, with the favor of the gods, are the first humans to use “aspects of magic” through small gems called signets. The Order of the Vael is the first guild chartered in Orr to clear up an undetailed catastrophe. More guilds came to follow, seeking access to the magic and riches of Orr
The Order of the Vael sees a decline during this time, seen as out-of-touch zealots fighting for a lost cause. The gods, caught up with their own drama, like the overthrowing of Dhuum, the god of death, let the guilds figure out the affairs of Orr
Guild Wars 3 begins when the Valewardens are at their weakest. Their greatest rivals are the Mavenwrights with a manifest destiny and industrial view of exploiting the resources of Orr. Players will be the ones working to bring Vaelwardens back from the fringes, working to preserve the majesty of Orr and reconnecting with magic spirits. Players will have their own spirit called a Seeker working with them
So excited to learn more as we receive more updates regarding the world of Guild Wars 3!
